Lamb of God: The roots of Lamb of God were planted in 1990 when Mark Morton, Chris Adler and John Campbell were floor mates at Virginia Commonwealth University. The trio began playing at Adler's house in Richmond weathering chilly conditions. "There was no heat at the house," recalls Campbell. "We would freeze our asses off, get really drunk and hang around the kerosene heaters trying to write metal songs. Kerosene fumes and Black Label beer were definitely what fueled our early days."

After graduation, Morton moved to Chicago to pursue a master's degree, but the band continued. A new guitarist, Abe Spear, replaced Morton as the band retired its instrumental sound and added Blythe on vocals.

The quartet, known then as Burn the Priest, became a fixture in the tightly-knit Richmond music scene. To compete with the high-level of musicianship displayed by their contemporaries, the band adopted a rigid practice schedule. "To this day, we practice five days a week out of necessity," says Campbell. "The bands in Richmond can flat outplay you and if you don't practice, they will blow you off the stage. Bands like Breadwinner and Sliang Laos - two local math-metal bands - could play insanely complicated music note perfect. They inspired us to raise the bar musically and taught us the work ethic we needed to be a success."

Sylosis: SYLOSIS are a forward thinking UK thrash metal band. Hailing from Reading, SYLOSIS set out to create a modern, epic new take on the old school thrash metal blueprint. The bands sound is comprised of fast, aggressive riffing, thunderous drumming, intricate guitar lines, shredding solos, fierce vocals and haunting ambience. Unashamedly, there is also an abundance of melody and dynamics. SYLOSIS pride themselves on not only their heaviness but the attention to detail of their song-writing. Every song is cleverly crafted into its own identity and structured to perfection. SYLOSIS’ debut album “Conclusion Of An Age” - set for release October 24th via Nuclear Blast - is a mammoth display of how modern metal should be done. The album twists and turns in every direction, one moment brutally aggressive, then blissfully epic the next. Lyrically, the album deals with many subjects but although this is by no means a concept album, the most prevalent theme is the idea of a struggle between mankind more....

and the planet and how inevitably, nature will reclaim the earth. With climate change being a growing concern for all, the album really strikes a nerve. Guitarist Josh Middleton says “This album took a long time to write and a lot of hard work in the studio but we feel it’s really paid off. We were fortunate to have more than enough material to run with before we entered the studio so we can honestly say we’re really proud of every track.” The band spent over three months at Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins just tracking the album. “In retrospect, when we look back we think ‘did we really need to spend so long on this?’ but I think if we hadn’t had time to be creative and agonise over every little detail, we wouldn’t be as happy with it as we are now.” With the release of the album imminent, the band are eager to show the world what they have to offer. “We’re definitely proud to be a metal band from the UK. We feel that the UK is kind of the birth-place of metal, seeing as bands such as LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH, MOTÖRHEAD, IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST all really helped define the genre. In recent years – with the exception of a handful of bands - the UK hasn’t really been able to compete on the same level with the US or European metal bands, so hopefully we can help to try and change that.” The band are determined to make an impact on the metal world and their live shows are really a force to be reckoned with. “We just want to get out there and tour! We’re itching to play all this new material live, these are really exciting times for us”.
